You can’t get to Win-Win if you won’t even try…

New START Negotiations, Russian Mission in Geneva
A post on the LinkedIn blog highlighted research surveyed from 2000 professionals across 8 countries, finding that 35% of the respondents felt anxious or frightened with negotiating, with differing results dependent on gender and nationality:

Professionals in eight countries were surveyed. Globally, 35 percent of people report feeling anxious or frightened about negotiating. Thirty-four percent are confident, while 10 percent say negotiations are exciting and 10 percent are indifferent about them.

Collapse or predictable, temporary trend?

Buzzfeed alarmingly states that Facebook social reader stats are collapsing.

I don’t have a horse in this race, but I think panic is premature.

Let’s not forget that for many colleges and Universities it is finals, commencement, and/or move-out time.

Beware the consultant making bold promises.

These guys are snake oil salesman.  Social media (and the internet) doesn’t do anything on its own, it only amplify what’s already there.  If you own a popular restaurant with good word of mouth, social media is going to make it better.  If you manage a horrible deli with miserable counter staff, it’s gonna amplify your suckitude.

Day 182- Boy, this is a dangerous place!

We are currently in the process of moving.  Our realtor made a video slideshow of our house.  We’re probably the only ones who’ve ever seen it.  Even though it’s free, he still paid someone about $50 to make the slideshow, which is something I could do in 5-minutes.  Sorry, but I’d much rather have better pictures than a lame PowerPoint.  Basically it’s just one more channel of advertising.

Restaurants and Mobile Internet.

I can’t “break the chain” if I can’t easily view your independent restaurants website and non-Flash menu (since most smartphones either don’t do Flash or don’t do it well) while on the go.  The Oatmeal (an entertaining infographic-humor site) show the difference between what users want in a restaurant website and the sad, frustrating reality. TechCrunch points to research from industry group Restaurant Science that finds 95% of independent restaurants fall short.  If you have the time and expertise, you can do it yourself for a relatively affordable amount, and very soon, I’ll be able to help.
