Necessity is the mother of invention: Why non-profits are leading the way.

If you survey the social media space looking for innovators, you likely will see that many of them are non-profits.  Those same non-profits have been severely crippled by the Great Recession, losing both governmental funding AND financial support from individual donors.  Today’s HBR Management Tip of the Day highlights innovation in the social sector.  It’s no surprise that they’ve been the first to adopt, innovate, and engage with social media – they’ve had no other choice.
